Politics.

Dear readers,
As most of you know, I have a brother who is majoring in political science. At Vassar. Now I have the good fortune of hearing about politics as the only dinner conversation. So I guess you could call me pretty well informed. Also, I have pretty strong beliefs. Now I'd like you to think for a minute about how politically inclined you actually are. What issues do you really have an opinion on or not? Example- I dont' know enough about the health care or social security issues to make a stand and argue. Which brings me to my next point. But before I venture into this, I would like to tell you a story. I was today playing a great game of Risk with my two friends, and his little brother. I was about to invade the little one. He begged me not to, and jokingly he said "Ill nuke myself if you don't invade me". We all had a laugh and I making a joke said, "No but Bush might do that". All the democrats in the room gave a nice hearty laugh. The little brother, a misinformed "republican" who scored democrat on a quiz I gave him felt it was his duty to tell us that if Kerry were elected president, he would nuke America. And this youngling was serious. This infuriated me, and I was visible about it. He kept stating how stupid Kerry was, and how stupid Democrats are. I asked him to stop. He did not. Eventually I got him to stop, but it made me think. I don't have a problem with someone who is well informed, but has different political views. I'll debate them happily. Take Frank Houser for example. He's well informed so hell! I'd gladly have a discussion with him. However, what I can not stand, is when someone misinformed dares to argue with me. Because thats just not fair. You say democrats hate America? Well have you thought that if you know nothing about politics (so little that you would make such an offense statement as the one above)you don't love your country? Because that's telling me that you don't care what happens, not knowing the President, or candidates, or whats going on. It feels good to get that out of my system. Have a fantastic day.
