Valentines Day
Its already passes, but should it be a real holiday? I think its a good idea in theory, but it does not correlate with what love actually is. What is love ask you? Well obviously there is no one definition, but one thing is certain. It relies on spontinaity. Lets say I have a girlfriend (or a boyfriend, to appease the agey peeps)to show her I love/like/have feelings for her, I would do at random times, because that shows that I often think about her, and I'm not obligated to do nice things for her. This why Valentines Day is no good. Im schedualed to buy me hypothetical girlfriend flowers, or jewlery or thongs. Thus, valentines day has nothing to do with love, but is a mere scam to get you to buy candies, and leingere. Perhaps I feel this way because I know that nothing good happens to me on Valentines Day, and its an upseting day for me, but I still feel that this is true. -Peter
New Post! Its been a while.
Well folks, I'm back, as if you missed me. Well I was in Cleveland this weekend, visiting the rock and roll hall of fame. I got to see a lot of cool things, like some of my favorite artists guitars, drums, and clothes, among other things. I felt blessed to be in the presence of these things. But two things struck me as strange: 1. I saw a Bass used by John Entwistle that actually intimidated me. 2. Although I had already visited the Queen and Who exhibits, later that day, I was drawn to them, and went back. I know its corney, but I thought, should I really be worshiping these things? And thats exactly what I was doing; I was'nt just paying homage to by favorite bands, I was worshiping these material objects. Needless to say, to a certain degree, I'm ashamed. But oh well. I'm sure it will pass, but it was sort of a wake up call. Nonetheless, if you ever find yourself in Cleveland, make sure to visit the hall of fame. It was incredible.

Pride
Miss Olivia Downs always tells me to "get over myself", but is a little pride a bad thing? I think its good to be proud of what you've done. You should appreciate it, realize it, and other people should too. When it gets to the point that your openly proud about everything, now thats bad. Here's a list of things I'm proud of-
1. Being an accomplished musician
a. Being one of the best guitarists in our grade
b. Being a pretty good pianist
c. Working on Saxophone, and the progress I'm making
d. Being a pretty good singer
2. Being one of the smartest kids in our grade, behind of couse several fold (ie. Allison, Matt, Kit, and several others)
3. I'm a pretty good stratagist, and I almost always win in risk.
4. I have incredible hair.
This a list of the main things I'm proud of, and I'm open about it. So please, don't tell me that I brag, because I think I'm just appreciating the work I've put into these things. All of you too have things to be proud of too, and I encourage you too! These people and things include:
1. Alison- You're way smart! It's insane!
2. Matt- You also are ridiculously smart! You also pick up quickly on things, and have DECENT hair.
3. Kit- Youre an incredible drummer, and have the intellegence of a genius! TWO MEASURES!
4. Bo- You happen to have the best nickname ever, most potential for a good head banger, and you have successfully redefined the Baritone Horn.
If you want kind words on yourself and I forgot you, just leave a comment!

Politics.
Dear readers,
As most of you know, I have a brother who is majoring in political science. At Vassar. Now I have the good fortune of hearing about politics as the only dinner conversation. So I guess you could call me pretty well informed. Also, I have pretty strong beliefs. Now I'd like you to think for a minute about how politically inclined you actually are. What issues do you really have an opinion on or not? Example- I dont' know enough about the health care or social security issues to make a stand and argue. Which brings me to my next point. But before I venture into this, I would like to tell you a story. I was today playing a great game of Risk with my two friends, and his little brother. I was about to invade the little one. He begged me not to, and jokingly he said "Ill nuke myself if you don't invade me". We all had a laugh and I making a joke said, "No but Bush might do that". All the democrats in the room gave a nice hearty laugh. The little brother, a misinformed "republican" who scored democrat on a quiz I gave him felt it was his duty to tell us that if Kerry were elected president, he would nuke America. And this youngling was serious. This infuriated me, and I was visible about it. He kept stating how stupid Kerry was, and how stupid Democrats are. I asked him to stop. He did not. Eventually I got him to stop, but it made me think. I don't have a problem with someone who is well informed, but has different political views. I'll debate them happily. Take Frank Houser for example. He's well informed so hell! I'd gladly have a discussion with him. However, what I can not stand, is when someone misinformed dares to argue with me. Because thats just not fair. You say democrats hate America? Well have you thought that if you know nothing about politics (so little that you would make such an offense statement as the one above)you don't love your country? Because that's telling me that you don't care what happens, not knowing the President, or candidates, or whats going on. It feels good to get that out of my system. Have a fantastic day. "You know whats real contagious? A big ol' smile!"

Now for some real thought...
I was listening to the song "Pure and Easy" by Pete Townshend (performed by the Who). And the concept behind it, is that the meaning of life is in one note. Cool right? I got to thinking. Wouldn't that be cool? I know it's probably not going down like that, but it's fun to imagine, right? I love deep songs.

The Chains That Bind Us
Despite the deep sounding title, this is not deep at all. This is about something I witnessed this afternoon that might have been one of the stupidest things I've seen in quite a while. We've all seen the Gothic people wearing chains on their pants. Well this has never been my favorite fashion statement, even if you can call it that. All those stereotyped as Gothic have worn them. It's a staple in their appearance. Well as I was waltzing along to a wonderful afternoon of play practice, I saw too girls clad in black, chained together at the knee. Not only is this not cool in anyway (which I imagine they are trying to acheive), it hindered their ability to walk properly. So I wonder, is this ridculous acceserization necessary?

I was just labeled a hypocryte by Mr. Dunn. And yes, we are all hypotcrytes at times, in this instance, I was not, because i was not saying that I do post often, I said that you don't. So ha and ha. But really. Hypocrasy sucks.
